It is an amazing book, which helped me connect myself, to my mind and also trust myself.
During reading the book, I started to quit dieting and I realized that I didn’t become fatter and I could enjoy all the “forbidden foods” without guilt.
Carol starts her book explaining the vicious cycle of dieting. Diets lead us to deprivation, which leads to an internal battle.
While dieting, we feel stressed and tensioned and we start craving for all the “forbidden foods”. She describes how we can break the vicious cycle and enjoy the food.
The only way to stop trying so hard is to truly experience and enjoy food using mindful awareness.
Losing weight has more to do with how, when, where and why we eat than what and how much we eat.
Everybody is different and we have to go through a process of learning what works for us. Our job is to observe and listen to our bodies needs. Reinventing ourselves is a continual process of learning what works and what doesn’t work for us!
When it comes to what to eat she advises to make smart choices!
She helps us to learn to separate emotional issues from food by mastering our feelings without food. She suggests many ways to overcome emotional eating by examining the self limiting beliefs and taming our inner critic.
Learning to lighten up and enhance our confidence and assertiveness are also useful weapons to overcome emotional eating.
Carol suggests relaxing and visualizing our perfect body using the power of meditation.
She also advises us to exercise for the right reason and also to use benchmarks to track our progress.
